Anime Watch Log 2024 Wrapped

What did That Manga Hunter watch in 2024?

Alright, keeping it short. I watched 7 unique anime shows, and I only finished two seasons, which has been my batting average for years now. I hope to complete a few more seasons and perhaps a show or two this year. Anyway, here's what I watched in 2024.

• Case Closed /Detective Conan (random episodes in Japanese)

• Spy x Family season 2 (English)

• Trillion Game ep. 1-4 (Japanese)

• Haigakura ep. 1 (Japanese)

• Nina the Starry Bride ep. 1-4 (English)

• Vampire Dormitory ep. 1 (English)

• My Happy Marriage season 1 (English)

I wrote a first impressions review back in October 2024 on Trillion Game. I will continue watching it this year, and I hope to start reading it this year as well. Besides Trillion Game, I enjoyed everything except Haigakura and My Happy Marriage. Haigakura's first episode was okay. I'll give the show another chance. My first viewing experience was ruined by Amazon Prime's video player and service. Surely, they fixed the missing subtitles by now. Surely. I haven't checked, and even if I wanted to, I can't check now as I'm not subscribed anymore. Thankfully, you can watch the show for free (and legally) via YouTube by "It's Anime." Check it out here.

I straight up didn't like My Happy Marriage. It's dry, saccharine, and flat. Why are the colors and animation so flat? Nothing pops or sparkles. The pacing is slow too, and it just makes the show feel dull overall. I never had the manga and light novel My Happy Marriage on my reading list, and I won't add them now. A Cinderella-esque historical romance with a good dose of supernatural fare and family politics should have been a hit with me, but it wasn't. 🤷‍♀️

If you're looking for a political marriage drama to watch, I'd definitely urge you to watch and read Nina the Starry Bride.
